Product Safety & Care Guide

Effective Date: September 15, 2026

At Furnilor, we want customers to enjoy their furniture and home décor products safely and keep them looking their best. Because products may have different materials, construction methods, and care requirements, always review the specific instructions provided with your product when available.

1. General Safety

Before using any furniture or home décor product:

  • Read the product description and any included assembly or care instructions.

  • Follow all assembly instructions carefully.

  • Make sure all components and hardware are properly installed before use.

  • Place products on a stable and suitable surface.

  • Do not use a product for a purpose other than its intended use.

  • Keep small components, hardware, and packaging materials away from children and pets.

  • Inspect products periodically for loose parts, damaged components, or other signs of wear.

  • Stop using a product if it becomes damaged or unstable.

2. Furniture Safety

For furniture products:

  • Assemble the product according to the provided instructions.

  • Check screws, bolts, fasteners, and other hardware regularly and tighten them when necessary.

  • Do not exceed any weight capacity stated in the product specifications or instructions.

  • Avoid standing, climbing, or sitting on furniture unless the product is specifically designed for that purpose.

  • Place heavier items on appropriate lower or supported surfaces when applicable.

  • Keep furniture away from conditions that could cause damage, such as excessive moisture or extreme heat, unless the product is specifically designed for those environments.

3. Tip-Over and Stability

Tall, narrow, or freestanding furniture may present a tip-over risk if not properly positioned or secured.

Where an anti-tip kit, wall anchor, or other securing hardware is supplied or recommended:

  • Follow the manufacturer's installation instructions.

  • Use appropriate hardware for your wall type when required.

  • Keep frequently used or heavier items positioned in a way that supports stability.

  • Do not allow children to climb on furniture.

If your product includes specific anti-tip or anchoring instructions, those instructions should be followed in preference to this general guidance.

4. Cleaning and Care

General care recommendations:

  • Follow the product-specific cleaning instructions whenever provided.

  • Use a soft, clean cloth for routine dusting.

  • Clean spills promptly to reduce the risk of staining or material damage.

  • Avoid excessive moisture unless the product is specifically designed to tolerate it.

  • Do not use harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or cleaning products that are not suitable for the product's material.

  • Test any cleaning product on a small, inconspicuous area when appropriate.

Different materials may require different care methods.

5. Wood and Wood-Look Surfaces

For wood and wood-look products:

  • Keep surfaces reasonably dry.

  • Wipe spills promptly.

  • Use a soft cloth for regular cleaning.

  • Avoid abrasive materials that may scratch the finish.

  • Protect surfaces from prolonged exposure to excessive heat or moisture.

Natural materials may have variations in color, grain, texture, or appearance.

6. Upholstered and Fabric Products

For upholstered or fabric products:

  • Follow the specific care instructions provided with the product.

  • Vacuum or gently remove surface dust when appropriate.

  • Address spills promptly using a suitable cleaning method.

  • Avoid using strong chemicals or excessive moisture unless specifically recommended for the material.

  • Keep products away from excessive heat or open flames.

7. Glass, Ceramic, and Decorative Items

For glass, ceramic, and similar decorative products:

  • Avoid dropping or striking the product.

  • Do not use damaged items.

  • Keep fragile items away from areas where they may be easily knocked over.

  • Keep small decorative components away from young children and pets where applicable.

8. Lighting and Electrical Products

If a product includes electrical components:

  • Follow all manufacturer-provided installation and operating instructions.

  • Use only the specified bulbs, power source, or components where applicable.

  • Do not use products with damaged electrical cords, plugs, or components.

  • Keep electrical products away from water unless specifically designed for wet environments.

  • Disconnect power before performing any cleaning or maintenance where applicable.

  • If professional installation is recommended or required, use a qualified professional.

Always follow the product-specific electrical instructions supplied with the product.

9. Outdoor Products

If a product is specifically identified as suitable for outdoor use, follow its product-specific care instructions.

Unless a product is specifically described as suitable for outdoor use, do not assume that it is weather-resistant or designed for outdoor conditions.

10. Children and Pets

Furniture and home décor products are not automatically designed as children's or pet products.

Keep products, packaging, small components, cords, and assembly hardware away from children and pets when appropriate.

Do not allow children to climb on furniture or interact with products in a manner inconsistent with their intended use.

11. Product Modifications

Do not modify, alter, drill, cut, or otherwise change a product unless the product instructions specifically permit it.

Unauthorized modifications may affect product stability, safety, appearance, or intended performance.

12. Damaged Products

Do not continue using a product if it is significantly damaged, unstable, broken, or otherwise appears unsafe.

If a product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, contact Furnilor as soon as possible.
